IS IT OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH A NEW?
From 1950 fur clothing trends to the 21st century. Is it really “out with the old and in with a new”? There was a time when anyone who was anyone couldn’t wear fur in public. But times have changed and everyone started wearing fur clothing especially in high fashion.
Today fur material is highly exported item and fur industry keeps on growing and spinning. We often see models on a high fashion catwalks wearing fur coats, fur vests and collars. It seems they wrapped themselves in fur from head to toe. Layer upon layer, until we feel warm and fashionable enough. No matter how contravention and crucial it looks in the eyes of PETA enthusiasts, the best designers use only real and genuine fur. Is it against nature? If we take a look back, to those prehistoric days, fur and animal hunting was as natural as breathing. No one doubted their instincts then, but the world have changed and changed back again. You can see it now, can you?
We can still recall 1994 advert, when supermodels posed nude and declared: We’d rather go naked than wear fur’. It’s been 20 years. Today this naked declaration is long forgotten. Of course animal rights activist had an impact on high fashion industry and fur clothing. For awhile they’ve been designing their collections out of artificial fur and other fake fabrics. However, times have really changes. Naomi Cambell once was a PETA activist, but today she applaus at the Donatella Versace show wearing a white mink coat with a fox fur. How about that for a change?
Every fashion week, from Paris to London and New York, never forgets fur clothing. High fashion couture should have at least a hint of fur. One of the main suppliers of fur, Tom Steifel Christensen from Sweden, is happy that fur is back on fashion runways. So many designers appreciate this material and treats it with respect and style. It seems we are out with the nude and in with the fur.
A new way to wear fur clothing, is to be more ostentatious. From Jean Paul Gaultier, to John Galliano and Givenchy, they all wrapped their models in bright fur.
Gaultier have always been in a big conflict with PETA activist. However, this conflict is eternal. Instead of giving up, best designers fight in style. They dig out fur from their wardrobes.
Lets look at some of the most impressive 2014 fur clothing collections. Do you believe in fur now?
