This universal fashion palace in Paris ( the “City of Lights” 1889) continues to surprise public. With this 21 century project they are trying to revive Parisian cultural and fashionable landscape. Bernard Armault, the CEO of LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy), is happy about his current art and fashion project, it’s both educational so as entertaining. The idea of this Louis Vuitton Foundation building was born in 2001, when Arnault met with architect Frank Ghery. This year on October 24th, the foundation opened its doors for the public.
Louis Vuitton Foundation is thought to be the most ambitious project of LVMH. A 41,441-square-foot building is designed as museum so as a place for performing arts. This center for fashion collections, both public and private, is a result of more than 10 years in the making. Contemporary artist will praise this space for performances and exhibitions.
LVMH conglomerate was always known for its philanthropic and educational goals. It’s fascinating how way manage to combine fashion and luxury together with charity work. While Parisians were always looking forward for their own and revitalized contemporary art museum. Even if there were some criticism towards the shape and the silhouette of this building, fashionable public praised it. Even Eiffel Tower in 1889 wasn’t excepted right away, but it’s loved by so many today. We live in 21 century and things have changes completely.
Louis Vuitton Foundation will definitely become a Parisian landmark and tourist attraction center, especially for those that are into fashion. Frank Gehry will be responsible for it’s fame. And who can forget his infamous Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles? Beside the fame of the architect, this new culture center has the best spot in Paris ( 8 Avenue du Mahatma Gandhi). This palace of art is surrounded by the Jardin d’Acclimatation and the Bois de Boulogne.
New museum of contemporary arts and fashion have already seduced the public. Foundation is opening up its doors with the most important contemporary art collections (Adrián Villar Rojas, Cerith Wyn Evans, Ellsworth Kelly, Janet Cardiff, Jean-Michel Basquiat,Jeff Koons, Gilbert & George, Olafur Eliasson , Sarah Morris, Taryn Simon). All the conceptual, contemporary artists of 21th century are pleased to be the part of this foundation. The inauguration program of this new arts and fashion center continues even after October, because it has three-tier opening stages. The concluding opening will be held on March 16th, 2015, but it doesn’t mean that Louis Vuitton Foundation will be closing its door. Just like Eiffel tower it will outlive its time and legacy.
